Waterford City to “Bloom” Once Again

So many things were put on hold during the Covid 19 lockdown and it’s great to see that with the lifting of restrictions that a lot of initiatives are starting up again.  One of these initiatives is the Waterford City In Bloom which will start again on Monday the 8th of June.
Michael Garland of the Waterford Business Group and Tidy Towns says, “This is to be a surprise for businesses and people as part of the COVID-19 response. This year we have not gone out to businesses and I have arranged finance for 220 baskets of ‘Bee friendly’ flowers with the support of Waterford Council, Tidy Towns Waterford City and Waterford Businesses Group”.

Garland goes on to say, “It was essential that we, TT and WBG, concentrated on being proactive rather than reactive. So there will be other measures like interesting window decals that will be synonymous with Waterford, Tramore and Dungarvan, where members of the public can take photo opportunities and post to social media with hashtags such as #LoveWaterford #Waterford #WhereInWaterford #TogtherWaterfordIsStronger We hope that over time there will be a trail of these images to encourage people to ‘Discover the City’ and ‘Discover the Town’.
The Waterford Business Group has also been active in the creation of business support and help with other stakeholders like Waterford Council, LEO Waterford, Waterford Chamber, Dungarvan Chamber and Purple Flag Waterford. Creating the Business Support Hub website; http://www.waterfordcouncil.ie/businesssupportshub/index.htm Generating Business ‘Standard Operating Procedures and helping the Council with the reopening of our public realm, rates grants, seating/furniture grants, creation of safe spaces to meet, car parking offers…..and much, much more which will be launched over time.
“So, we have not been sitting on our laurels. With the other stakeholders mentioned we, that is WBG and TT, have been at the heart of giving Waterford City and County the help it needs to kick start our economy once again” concluded Michael Garland.
