Thomas Barr Running for Gold

Waterford’s Thomas Barr will be running for Gold in the final of the 400 meter hurdles.  After running the 400 meters at 48.39 seconds he broke the Irish Record and finished 1st in the qualifier.

A native of Waterford Thomas is 24 and is a member of the Ferrybank Athletic club.  Sadly he was plagued with injuries in the run up to the games but his bad luck has changed and we’re all shouting for him!

Thomas’s sister Jessie is also an athlete said in an interview with the Irish Examiner that “She wouldn’t be surprised if he came home with the Gold”.  (You can read the article HERE)
