Careers in Music video gives confidence in following a creative path

Music is often considered a hobby rather than a serious career option, resulting in highly talented and creative individuals giving up on their true passion and studying something that does not really inspire them.
To address this misconception, Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) has created a video featuring a selection of graduates from the BA (Hons) in Music programme which highlights the career options they have pursued. Music is a restricted course on the CAO.

Dr Hazel Farrell, lecturer on the music degree says “We have spoken to graduates on location in their places of employment to give prospective Music students an insight into how they achieved their goals and succeeded in establishing fulfilling careers within the music industry.”
Speaking directly to aspiring musicians, Dr Farrell says, “Our message to you is that it is okay to follow a creative path. The BA (Hons) in Music degree is the first step in opening the door to a broad range of possibilities where you can pursue your passion and also establish a successful career doing something you love”.
Music is a restricted course on the CAO as applicants must also audition for the programme in the Spring. The closing date is 1 February 2020.  More information at https://www.wit.ie/courses/ba_hons_in_music
According to the CAO if an applicant is considering applying for a restricted course they should make sure to include the course details in their application before this deadline. If they do not apply for a restricted course before the deadline an additional fee of €10 applies for the use of the Change of Course Choices facility which is available (to registered applicants only) from 5 February to 1 March at 5:15 pm.
