Mount Congreve Opens for the 2017 Season
We are delighted to hear that Mount Congreve will open for the 2017 season on Thursday the 16th of March just in time for St Patrick’s weekend.
The gardens at Mount Congreve, Waterford, consist of around seventy acres of intensively planted woodland garden and a four acre walled garden. Rhododendrons, Magnolias, Camellias and indeed many other floras from every continent in the world.
The entire collection consists of over three thousand different trees and shrubs, more than two thousand Rhododendrons, six hundred Camellias, three hundred Acer cultivars, six hundred conifers, two hundred and fifty climbers and fifteen hundred herbaceous plants.
After a walk through the gardens you can relax at the coffee shop and browse through the garden centre.
Opening Times at Mount Congreve
The Gardens will open to the public Thursday the 16th of March and are open each Thursday to Sunday, 11am to 5.30pm last entry to the gardens at 4.30pm.
The entry fee is €6 per person, children under 12 enter free but must be accompanied by an adult. There are no dogs other than registered guide dogs permitted.

The gardens have exceptional vistas overlooking bends in the neighbouring River Suir, particularly in March/April. There are also many surprises throughout which include a Chinese Pagoda in the centre of an old quarry that is spectacular when viewed from above, a classical temple surrounded by Rhododendron yunnanense and Rhododendron ‘Hino-crimson’ is located above a beautiful view of the River Suir and the neighbouring countryside. An artificial waterfall cascading over a natural rock into three small pools is edged with water margin plants such as Lysichiton americanus, Caltha palustris, and Primula pulverlenta.
