How to Make a Slushie at Home

During the summer we’re always looking for ways to enjoy a cool drink.  We came across this incredible way to make a slushie at home and it’s not hard!  I think the kids will love this one.
All you have to do to be the best party host in the world is to get an unopened bottle of pop ( the video uses 500ml plastic bottles) and share the hell out of it before you put it in the freezer for a few hours!  It really works.

Here’s what you have to do to make a slushie at home.

  1. Make sure that the bottle is at room temperature.
  2. Place the bottle in the freezer on a shelf on its own for about 3 and a half hours (that’s what it says in the video). Make sure that it is not lying on something already frozen because this can effect how the bottle cools.  It can also happen that the bottle freezes on one side and that’s not the result you want.
  3. BE CAREFUL NOT TO FORGET ABOUT THE BOTTLE, the bottle could explode in the freezer if you forget about it!
  4. When the time is up take the bottle out of the freezer and open and close the cap quickly, before turning the bottle upside down. The pop will freeze in the bottle into a carbonated slush right before your eyes.

Here’s the process described by Grant Thompson. If you don’t believe us, watch it happen:

Now you see how easy it is to “Make a Slushie at Home”.  All you have to do now is sit back and enjoy!  There’s nothing like trying something different and I think that this will be enjoyed by a lot of people!
