The Magic Road

The Magic Road

Did you know we have a Magic Road in Waterford?

Waterford Magic Road
Did you know that we have a “Magic Road” here in Waterford?  Well we do and it is magic!  If you park your car at the bottom of the hill and take the handbrake off then the car will roll backwards!  I kid you not!  The road is in the Comeragh Mountains that leads you to the magnificent Mahon Falls.  Is it the work of the little people?  Can it be some mystical power of the ancient mountains?  Is there some hidden power force that transcends all logic?  You will have to go yourself and find out!

To get to the Magic Road you need to get to Mahon Bridge and head for Mahon Falls.  On the way there you will cross a cattle/ship grid and shortly after that you will have to keep your eyes peeled for two stones with the inscription “Magic Road”.  You will also see a “Fairy Tree” covered in rags and other paraphernalia.  This is where you can stop your car and put it in neutral and wait for it, you will begin to roll backwards!  Don’t take my word for it but have a look at this video by Sean Allen on his “Rambles with my Camera” as he checks out the road!

Remember folks to watch out for other traffic on the road and be careful at all times.  Use Google Maps and search “The Magic Road Waterford” and the map will show you how to get there!  Or click this link for directions from Waterford city
