Keeping our Language Alive

Many of you reading this will have had Irish lessons in school but if you are like me you have forgotten much of this beautiful language and this is why those who are Keeping our Language Alive have to be commended.
Coláiste Lurgan which is an independent Irish learning school in County Galway have found a novel way of getting kids to enjoy our native language.  For the past few years they have been covering hits and translating them into Irish and in doing is they’re keeping our language alive!
Here are some videos to show you what they are doing!

Síoraí Spraoi – “Cheerleader” le OMI as Gaeilge

Despacito – As Gaeilge

Avicii Vs Lurgan – “Wake Me Up” as Gaeilge

Shape Of You – Ed Sheeran – As Gaeilge

Amhrán na gCupán – When I’m gone as Gaeilge

You have to admit that this looks like a lot of fun and so it should be.  Learning a language doesn’t have to be boring!  Learning Gaeilge  and keeping our language alive is something that we should aspire to.  It’s amazing to see how many hits that the above videos are after getting on YouTube with some of them hitting the millions!
