at The Theatre Royal Waterford

DAVE WAS IN THE ORIGINAL CAST OF CATS
HE WAS SACKED ON OPENING NIGHT
HE’S NOT A HAPPY PUSSY…
CAT (the play) comes to The Theatre Royal with co-writer and original star Richard Hardwick in its original production for two performances only. Featuring songs ‘supposedly’ cut from some of your favourite ALW shows, CAT (the play) also contains high kicks, swearing and a lot of lycra.
CAT (the play) is the tale of ‘Dave the Cat’, who tells us in his own words how he was sacked from the original production of that famous musical Cats on opening night and has never quite recovered. As he stands on stage in his ‘magnificent’ cat costume, he lets us into a world of backstage drama, romance and intrigue, but as his story unfolds that world becomes a much darker place.
CAT (The Play) was originally performed at the Edinburgh Festival in 2013 where it quickly became a sell out festival favourite. Acclaimed productions then followed on the London Fringe, Waterford, Edinburgh, Belfast, Leicester Curve, Germany and in the West End’s Ambassadors Theatre to popular and critical acclaim.
‘An absolute riot! …I actually thought I was going to hyperventilate, just remembering it makes me laugh. It was so funny. Far too wonderful…’ Elaine Paige, Musical Theatre Legend. BBC Radio 2‘A Wow of a One-Man Show!’ Liam Murphy. Munster Express
