Dungarvan Chamber & Tourist Office Object to Offensive Signage

In a social media post Dungarvan Chamber & Tourist Office posted their objections to new signage in Dungarvan banning  parking of camper vans in Abbeyside.

Dungarvan & West Waterford Chamber and the Dungarvan Tourist Office jointly object to the new signage installed at The Pond, Abbeyside which discourages the parking of camper vans at this site.

Chamber CEO Jenny Beresford, representing both offices, says they are “shocked and disappointed at the overtly hostile signage” indicating that Camper Vans are not welcome to park at The Pond parking area.

Dungarvan Chamber brought forward suggestions at a February two recent meetings with the Waterford Council and other stakeholders regarding a plan for Camper Vans as the popularity of campers vans in the area is increasing.

The Chamber and Tourist Office are very disappointed that the Waterford Council has taken such a negative, inflexible approach with this action, instead of looking at the issue with a strategic and open-minded vision.

The Chamber has directly contacted a number of Council executives and local Councilors (all present at both meetings mentioned above) requesting this signage be removed immediately.

Editors note.  There seems to be a lack of spaces all over county  Waterford for camper vans.  With the popularity of the Waterford Greenway and the Copper Coast more and more people are travelling to Waterford with their campers and we need to address this issue.
