Cruise Calls to Waterford
Cruise Calls to Waterford have become part and parcel of our summer. Over the past few years Waterford has become a destination for cruise ships and their passengers. 2017 is no different with the summer starting the Port of Waterford reports that there are 17 calls to Waterford this summer.
Some of the ships have been here over the past number of years and one of those is “Windsurf” which is a majestic modern sailing vessel. Anchored at the mouth of Waterford Harbour at Dunmore East these big ships are a sight to be seen.
Other smaller vessels enter the city and berth at the Frank Cassin Warf and also at the Port of Waterford further downstream.
Waterford as a Cruise destination, offers visitors an option that no other port in Ireland can.
Visitors to Waterford and Ireland’s South East can access the attractions of the region’s counties of Carlow, Tipperary, Waterford and Wexford, all within a leisurely 1 hour’s drive from Waterford. Along with the world renowned Waterford Crystal, there is a host of attractions nearby in Waterford’s Historic Quarter, which will entertain people of all ages.
Ireland’s Celtic, Christian, Viking, and Norman past can be experienced at the many heritage sites located in the region like the Museums of Treasure, Lismore Castle, Mount Congreve, Kilkenny Castle, Cahirr Castle and the Rock of Cashel.
The cruise ship industry is relatively new to Waterford but it is something that can be grown in time especially when you think of what is on offer in the Sunny South East.
